These are adorable mermaid tails! They are larger-than-mat cut outs used for backdrops. Matching letter blocks that spell “two” for a birthday party.
Both cut outs are 27 inches from top to bottom. They also include the child’s name. The cut out below is spray painted with a dull shimmer gold. I sprayed the entire tail base that is cut from of a standard poster board and then I adhered the different cardstock scales and letters. Since it was spray painted, I was able to cut it out as one whole piece.
This tail below, however, was cut out the same way, but the client wanted a gold mirror finish. The mirror cardstock only came in 8.5×11 so I had to strategically cover the base with the gold foil. Then the cardstock scales were adhered on top of that.
The tails on these letter blocks were Cricut Print-Then-Cuts. I did that so I wouldn’t have to glue such small scales individually. Also, their tail bases are a gold glitter pattern. The letters match the gold foil on the tail.
